Nip Tuck Fold
As you can see, I had a bit of difficulty choosing which pieces of London-based artist, Abigail Reynolds, to feature in this post. Each of them appeals on a different level, or at least for differing reasons. I think this is what makes her work so very special. There is the contextual play between photos of the same subject taken decades apart. Then there is the 3D or tactile play of depth and form which heightens the meaning and consequence. Reynolds makes use of the 'found' object in her collages of tourist guides, atlases and encyclopedias sourced from second-hand markets and bookshops. I love how Reynolds' work plays with the mind on the notion of 'place'... but it's the obvious analogy of time folding which tickles my fancy most :)
